Reflecting on 2018 - my year in review!

January 01, 2019

Happy New Year’s are all around and everyone is reflecting on their own 2018, I’ve been thinking about my year in review and was in two minds to write anything up but I think its really good to look back on your achievements, goals, happy times and even the hard times. 2018 was a little up and down for me but I feel like I’ve come out the end of it with a better frame of mind and I am looking forward to 2019.

January 2018

I started the new year seeing one of my all time favourite brands that I’ve been wanting to watch since being a teenager; Paramore! I managed to get tickets in the September before and it was a countdown to the actual gig. This was also my only visit to Manchester Arena in 2018, I must admit I prefer smaller venues for gigs in Manchester. I ended January with a gig at Manchester Academy watching Hollywood Undead. I'd say this was a pretty good start to my year!

February 2018

Feb is always one of my favourite months as it’s my Birthday month, I decided to go to Junk Yard Golf in Manchester which was hella fun. Birthday time has meant gig time for the past couple of years and this year was no different, Bowling for Soup were at Manchester Apollo so me and the squad went along to that and stayed over in MCR; so a trip to Satan’s Hallow was in order. London Edge is also in February so I got to hang out with my blogger pals, I always come away from Edge feeling inspired, creative and filled with positive energy.

March 2018

March brought the snowy weather and quite a few blogger events including the Celebrity MUA Masterclass in Liverpool and The Gin Festival in Manchester both of which was fun filled and I was able to take along my bestie to the masterclass and Dean to the Gin Festival.

April 2018

The beginning of April I went to look at getting a hamster as I’d been wanting a pet for some time now but instead I came home with a rabbit; Felicia. She’s now over one year old, as mischievous as ever and as cute as a button. I was very lucky with gigs in April and attended 3; Andrew WK at The Ritz, Skindred at Manchester Academy and my favourite band of all time Theory of a Deadman at Academy 2.

May 2018

This was a busy month for blogging and I worked with some awesome brands on my site with blog posts, photos and social media posts. New Rock, Old English Company and UK Swimwear to mention a few of the brands. May was also my first ever Slam Dunk Festival, me and my pal had been wanting to go for ages and this year we got tickets, booked a hotel and had a whale of a time! I got to see State Champs, Creeper, Frank Carter and Good Charlotte. Next year’s festival is already planned too!

June 2018

Another of my favourite months as I get to go home to Download Festival, it’s literally one of the events I plan my year around. Download is really my favourite time of year, this year I got to meet Andrew WK in the signing tent then watch his party set on the Zippo stage as well as seeing many other bands like; Bullet for my Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Rise Against, Neck Deep and Shinedown. Me and my pal were also lucky enough to get into two of Zippo’s Secret Sessions. June not only was Download month but I also got to see Foo Fighters at the Etihad Stadium which was an experience, loved the set but the venue wasn’t for me.

July 2018

One of my yearly goals was to pass my driving test and July was the month, be it the end of the month but I still passed my test and it was such a relief to get this ticked off the life goals list. July was also my last month as a Body Piercer as the shop I was working at closed so I was made redundant but not all was lost and I was straight onto the job hunt and secured some interviews.

August 2018

What a busy month... we started August off with a camping trip to Wales and we had such a sunny weekend; I’m talking all of us sun-burnt. I also bought a car which I had to wait to pick up until my driving license arrived which took ages!!! I received the most amazing PR package from Alex Silver PR/Kiss Products, I absolutely love working with Kiss products and Alex Silver. After a couple of interviews I was offered a job in a fashion company which I said yes to and started my first office job. Adding to the gig list I won a competition on Twitter for tickets to watch Sean Paul at Victoria Warehouse so me and my pal had an old school night dancing to Sean Paul and support Fat Man Scoop.

September 2018

The second London Edge month of the year and this time me and Dean made a weekend of it in London, travelling down on the Saturday and staying over until Monday. We spent Saturday on a coach then exploring London, visiting Spectrum in Carnaby, eating at lots of fab places and taking lots of photos. Sunday was Edge day then the after party which I didn't have to leave early from then Monday was more food and blogger photo day. Towards the end of the month it was time for another gig to watch Halestorm with Avatar supporting at MCR o2 Apollo, I’ve really become to love this venue as the lay out is fab for gigs no matter where your standing.

October 2018

It was another busy one for blog work and I was able to work with Punky Pins on my page which was such an achievement for me; I love the brand so much. I drove to Wales which was my first longish motorway drive which really helped my confidence in the car. It was Dean’s 30th Birthday so I attempted to plan a surprise party which Dean caught me out on and it was a ‘not so surprise party’ but he had a great time anyway. Halloween is a main part of my October so I have the annual people around for drinks, we dress up and then go party in town.

November 2018

Events, Events, Events! November was filled with events and blogger hangs and lots of exciting things. At the start of the month of I attended Cocktails in the City Event, then KissXManchester which was such a glam event in the Hilton’s sky bar, Curve Fashion Festival was next with the Lazy Oaf sample sale before it and finally finishing the month with a trip to Spectaculum Carnival in Liverpool. I was busy, busy, busy and it was lots of fun.

December 2018

As 2018 draws to an end in the final month, I continued with the blogger events as December is always a busy one for events, I planned for Christmas and looked back on my year. It has definitely been a busy one and I can see that more now I’ve wrote it all down, the end of year was less busy with social events like gigs but included lots of blogger events. I always have a little break from writing blog posts over the Christmas period and it’s a nice break, I can then start fresh in the New Year. I am also going into the New Year with a new job which I start in January, I’m super proud of myself for getting through the interview stage and accepting the role.

I want to set some more life goals, blogger goals and I already have lots of exciting things planned for 2019 and you’ll hear all about them on my blog so thank you for reading this year and I hope you continue to enjoy my content and posts.

Happy New Year Everyone!!
