A Download Festival outfit featuring New Rock Boots*

May 24, 2018

Festival season is upon us and starting this weekend for me; man I’m excited!!! This weekend I’m off to Slam Dunk Festival but surprisingly I’ve been planning outfits for Download Festival at the beginning of June. Festivals are a yearly thing for me and I never miss Download, it’s like a second home to me; the atmosphere, the music, the site, the people and everything else the festival brings really makes it an amazing weekend year in, year out!

Being a blogger gal I’m consistently writing lists and plans for any event, my festivals are no different. I’ve been planning outfits for a while now, thinking about what I can carry and be comfortable wearing is key to any festival outfit.

To start, comfortable shoes are a must have... and mud is pretty much a guarantee at Download so boots are a good idea. If you follow my socials you’ll know I received some New Rock boots* recently and I’ve pretty much been wearing them every weekend. These tartan boots are so damn comfy, I was expecting to have to break the boots in but other than being a little tight around the leg when I first put them on they’ve been perfect! Comfortable enough to wear all day at Download fest, keep my feet dry, mud free and they also give me a little more height to see the stages a little better (not that a need the height to be honest, haha). If wellies aren’t your thing and you wanna look bad ass then investing in a pair of New Rocks is for you! You can also grab a discount on www.newrock.com by entering NRKGEMMA at checkout (this is NOT an affiliate code)

As I’ve said above comfort is a priority for me and should be for you too at a festival. Your gonna be on your feet for most of the day, dancing/jumping around and the weather can change instantly. I opted for a oversized raglan dress with my New Rocks here; this simple yet fashionable dress is from Monki. The other half bought me this on Monki's store opening day at Manchester Arndale and it’s been a stable in my wardrobe since. I love the loose fit and adding the fishnets from PamelaMann Tights** makes for an alternative look. The v-neck is also pretty cooling so if the weather is warm I won't be getting too hot around my neck.

Pop on a pair of sunglasses and the outfit is pretty much complete. This pair was a TK Maxx find a while back and I absolutely love them. Moschino is a brand I admire with the quirky designs and shapes they use, these heart shaped sunny's work with so many outfits and protect my eyes whilst looking great! Finally my bag choice here probably wasn’t the best option as backpacks aren’t usually allowed into festival and gig sites now, this is totally understandable and to be honest if I can get away with not taking a bag at all, I will and usually do. However I’ve got my eye on the matching bumbag to this Skinnydip X Nintendo bag so that would be suitable for the festival site and will fit in the essentials.

Also don’t forget to protect your phones, I always have a case on my iPhone because let’s be honest, it’s an iPhone! Adding to the punk theme I’ve been using my Killstar Total Kitty case which is sturdy, covers all my phone and protects its well plus being a rubber material it pretty much bounces if you drop it (not that I'd recommending dropping your phone). Having a glass screen protector on my phone has also kept it well protected, the ones I use are from Primark and cost £2.00, I’ve had 2 since getting my phone last summer.

Keep your eyes pealed for more festival fashion on here and my socials plus I'll be sharing my top festivals tips again on both Twitter and Instagram next month!
