Halloween Nails from Leighton Denny Expert Nails*

October 08, 2017

Leighton Denny Nails are a good quality nail polish brand with lots of shade ranges and products that help you achieve amazing looking nails. I’ve used LD before, I’m always impressed with how smoothly LD polishes go onto my nails, every one of the polishes I've tried are smooth and have amazing colour pay off.

LD’s PR company kindly sent me three Halloween themed nail polishes and a beautiful glass nail file to sample over the spooky month of October. All 3 shades have themed shade names and the colours are perfect for All Hallows’ Eve outfits and costumes.

Before I applied any of the polishes I used the *Small Crystal Nail File which comes in a storage box to keep it safe and sound. I would avoid dropping this file from a height as it would probably break so I’ve opted to keep mine in the box when not in use. The file is gentle on my nails and files them smoothly into any shape I choose. I think this would make a lovely gift as well because of the storage box and that it’s a quality item. Having a glass nail file is a little more glam than just a regular emory board but both do a great job when needed.

This midnight blue shade is totally different on my nails than in the bottle, I was very surprised with the shade when I first applied it. *‘Miss Behavin’ has a secret blue tone when on the nails, it sort of looks black from a distance but when your up close or under a light you can see the midnight blue; it’s like a clear night sky. The polish of course has a Halloween theme and would work well with a cat, witch, or fairy costume.

Red is a shade I’d wear all year round but is definitely a Halloween shade too. LD nails have created this *'Caught Red Handed' shade which is a strong shade. It paints on like a dream and stays bright and full when being worn (I always wear a top coat with any polish). Caught Red Handed has a clown like Halloween theme but it would also work for a vampire outfit or bloody nurse or any bloody-like costume really. Just like ‘Miss Behavin’ the polish is super easy to apply and really stays put when worn. I got around 5-6 days wear of this polish before I had to re-apply.

Lastly a deep black shade which has all kinds of spooky-ness about it. A blacker than black shade once 2 coats is applied, *'Maneater' is OK with one coat but has an intense colour when two coats are on. To add shine I always wear a top coat, it also adds staying power so I get a few days out of the polish. I personally think you can wear black polish with any costume and outfit and it works with everything for the rest of the year. The shiny black would however be perfect for a Morticia Addams or Lydia Deetz (Beetlejuice) costume.

You can’t go wrong with Leighton Denny nails in my opinion, they are strong in colours, long lasting, there’s lots and lots of shades to choose from and the accessories are really good quality. I particularly like the quick drying spray from LD and will always recommend this product with LD polishes.

So what nail shade are you wearing with your costumes this year, let me know in the comments.
