Dress for day or night with Lindy Bop Dresses

March 08, 2017

My second fashion post of the year is here, as I've told you guys I'm going to be adding more fashion into my blog and I've got a lot planned for this year... hopefully :) My first post got some lovely comments and gave me boost in confidence, you can read that post here.
Todays post features a beautiful dress from Lindy Bop, a Manchester based company that started in 2011; they create vintage style garments in sizes 6 to 26 and there affordable too. Lindy Bop's website is full of pretty dresses, skirts, tops and shoes all with a vintage style and a lot with quirky prints. I'm particularly a fan of Lindy Bop for there size range, its great to see a brand cater for a wide range of sizes that are true to size and fit. After snapping some shots at London Edge last month of Lindy Bop dresses on the catwalk, they got in touch and kindly sent me a few pieces to show on my blog; this post features one of the dresses and I have another post coming up with a couple more so check back for that soon.

The *Audrina' Roller Skate Print swing dress is perfect for day or night, here I am showing how I would wear the dress during the day with a more casual style and how I'd dress it up for an evening event. The poly fabric has a matte finish with the funky print brightening up the black background, I love the roller-skate and tape illustrations. I was pleased to find pockets in the wide flare skirt as I love it when a skirt has pockets so I still have somewhere to put my phone. The dress fits really well with the detachable belt which I decided to bow at the back of the dress, this could of been at the front or even to the side; I'd happily wear the dress without the belt as well because it was a comfortable fit either way.

For the day time look I went with a favourite pair of trainers which have a hidden heel so they are still pretty girly in my opinion and added a cardigan. My well worn Vans match the print on the dress with being red and still keep the look alternative which is the style I usually go for, even when wearing a dress. I picked up the Jawbreaker cardigan from Grim in Liverpool, this was only £9.99; what was a bargain! The skull cupcake patches aren't too in your face so this can be worn with many outfits. Fishnets are popular with everyone lately and I'm no stranger to wearing them, since its still a little chilly and not bare leg weather, I added the tights to the outfit, these also gave the whole look an alternative feel. I borrowed my friend's tutu for under the dress so it had more flare but the dress can be worn without one and still has some flare and movement to it.

To dress the outfit up I switched my trainers for some boots and took off the cardigan, These **'Too Fly' boots where sent to me from Iron Fist; I was recently interviewed by them for being a super fan, you can read the interview here. I so happy with the boots and now although these are heels they are so comfy and easy to walk in and of course totally bad ass! The creeper style sole makes you feel as though your walking in flats, I could easily wear these for an evening out. The matte black with the patent black bats work so well together and go well with the matte fabric on the dress too. Taking the cardigan off opens up the neck line which was hidden before, you can see the rounded neck and strapless bodice, I think this dress would work with sleeves as well, Lindy Bop has the same print in a different style which has mid length sleeves, a collar and contrasting pockets.

With the rockabilly/vintage style of the dress we decided to shoot in my local park which has a band stand, I think this was a great spot and the weather held off for long enough that day. The park has lots of locations for other shoots, I spotted a few whilst we was there that will be coming up on the blog soon. I'm looking forward to the weather getting lighter, sunnier and warmer just like the rest of us. The lighter and longer days will give us bloggers more chance to take photos and enjoy the days, I  can't wait for festival season to start too. What are you most looking forward to this summer?
