GemsUpNorth's Alternative Gift Guide 2018*

December 12, 2018

Finding unique, strange, wonderful, funny and alternative gifts are something I like to add to my shopping list every year. With my alternative style, this fits my personalty but my friends and family love a bit of different as well. I've put together an alternative gift guide with presents you might not think of but know someone they would be perfect for...

I think we all have that pal that dyes their hair a different colour every week and why not feed that hobby with some Crazy Colour Pastel Sprays*. If your pal has light coloured hair these spray's are an easy way to change up hair colour and a quick way too. The spray is easy to apply and can be topped up regularly to keep on top of that pastel shade. Crazy Colour are also Vegan and Cruelty free so its a save product for any beauty fan.

Keeping with an alternative beauty gift theme and introducing Corpore Sanctum, a brand I met at London Edge back in September and was instantly drawn to their products because of the awesome packaging. Any alternative fan will love some beauty products in a skull shaped bottle or cute pink teddybear bottle; I'm pretty sure these are completely different to anything I've found in the past and my friends would love the gift of Corpore Sanctum. The skull is a skin cleanser and because of the spray is lasts ages and the teddybear is a spot treatment, both are inspired by Korean beauty and are Vegan, Cruelty Free and made with natural ingredients.

Christmas doesn't always mean that Halloween is over and the majority of my friends enjoy horror related things all year round. These two Christmas Baubles were bought at Wales Comic Con and are hand painted with some of my favourite horror characters; Billy from Saw and Pennywise from IT. These have taken a pride of place on my Christmas tree and I've popped a few in my friends Xmas presents this year too. Although these were a trail run on the Bleading Marvelous stall, a lot more horror baubles can be found online. Here's a link to Etsy where I found some more ornaments that have a horror theme.

Who's Pin Game can you add too this Christmas? Well no matter what pins your wanting to gift, Punky Pins have got you covered and they even have Christmas pins if that's what your into. I ordered some pins in the sale a few weeks ago and theres a mix of designs that would suit lots of my friends and family. Plus how awesome do they look on the stocking!

You can create a lovely yet alternative gift with Scent Circus* with their range of wax melts with themes like Unicorns, Disney and even Christmas. I've bought a burner and added some of these sweet scented melts to it then wrapped in cellophane; it looks like a really thoughtful, fun and of course colourful gift. You could pick out your gift receiver's favourite scent or theme then create a homely gift in no time.

Lastly for your organised pals that love a little swear word or two then how about this 'Fucking Brilliant' notebook that I picked up in Oklahoma in Manchester on their festive shopping night. Personally I think it's brilliant and it would make a different type of gift as long as you don't gift it to your Grandma, haha. It's a perfect size for a handbag, uni backpack or just on your desk but maybe not on show in the office.

What other alternative gifts will you be giving this Christmas?
