Kiehls Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque* Review

September 26, 2017

I've not used a clay mask for a while so I was very grateful to receive this Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque* as a gift from the Kiehl's Boutique Manchester team. I'm part of the Kiehls MCR bloggers group and represent the boutique, I attend events in store, talk about products and campaigns online and try samples of products when available. I'm happy to be part of the team and was super happy with this gift. Kiehls always package products up beautifully in store, the box and display of the gift were amazing; I've used the box for product storage now too! Recycling where I can :)

This Rare Earth Masque really cleanses your skin of dirt and debris, it can visually minimise the appearance of pores which gives a brighter look to your skin. The mask is also good to help clear blackheads and really helps the skin in those problem areas. Inside the clay mask is Amazonian white clay which helps to draw out oil, toxins and dirt from the skin; these are the things that clog pores. Also in the mask is Oatmeal and Aloe Vera that soothe the skin whilst the mask gently cleanses those pores. The clay like texture is gentle on the skin and is easy to apply so this mask is a good all rounder; it can used up to twice a week and will leave you feeling cleaner and refreshed!

I've been using this clay mask once or twice a week for over a month now and I can feel and see the difference in my skin. My face feels softer to touch and fresher after using the mask. My facial skin also looks better within itself, on a day to day basis it looks brighter and cleaner!

I was a little apprehensive when I first used the mask because of the clay/mud like scent but once I applied it onto my skin, the scent wasn't over-powering or unpleasant at all; I've actually grown to like the smell over the past month.
The clay like texture of the mask makes applying it quite easy, you need to dampen your skin first then apply a thin layer, I use a silicone brush to apply my mine. After around 10-15 minutes the mask hardens on my skin and I can remove it with a warm towel; doing this ends the process nicely as the warm feeling from the towel is nice on my skin and gives a calming effect. This Pure Clay Mask is one of those masks that when hardened cracks if you move too much or try to smile, this is a good indicator that it's time to remove the mask.

Once I've removed the mask I apply my face cream then usually go to bed, I tend to apply face masks at night within my nightly routine. I'm currently using The Body Shop's Vitamin E cream & Moisture Cream and Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream, I switch between these every few days. Both give me good results and moisturise my skin well.

My regular face masks are usually sheet masks or peel off ones as I can be a little lazy when it comes to removing masks but the warm towel removal takes all of a few minutes and feels great on my skin. The tub is big enough for lots and lots of applications and will more than likely last me a few months. Think I'll definitely have to purchase a tub once this one runs out, I may put it on my Christmas list!

You can purchase this Rare Earth Masque in the Kiehl's Manchester Boutique on King Street or online at https://www.kiehls.co.uk for £23.50.
