Urban Decay's Moondust palette - Its so sparkly!!!

August 24, 2016

If you haven't seen the Urban Decay Moondust palette yet then where have you been? UD launched this fabulous palette the same day as the new exclusive XX Vice Ltd Reloaded palette which you can read about here. I was super excited for this Moondust palette after seeing the sneak peaks and promos on social media; the need for this palette was high! UD have kindly sent me the palette to try out and sparkle my way into the future with, and here is a short review of the palette so you can check it out too.

I first discovered UD's Moondust singles when visiting my local UD counter, Jade the MUA used shade 'Intergalactic' on top of my lipstick; which looked fantastic! I love how versatile these shadows are and its clear to see that UD fans love the Moondust formula so how could they not put a palette together filled with moondust shades?
I absolutely love the gun-metal case that is of course sparkly to match the moondust shades inside. On top of the case is a cut-out mirrored 'Moondust' logo giving this palette the glam feel it deserves and inside the lid is a full size mirror for applying on the move.

The Moondust palette is limited edition and features 8 NEW Moondust shades that are so sparkly and pigmented you could see them from space! (OK, OK that may be a slight over exaggeration, haha)
Moondust shades contain microfine bits of iridescent sparkle that gives a dazzling diamond effect on your eyes; so if you love glitter you will love these moondust products. Even if you don't love glitter you can love this palette, trust me!

With 8 new shades to choose from your spoiled for choice, all the shades can be used wet or dry but for best results I've found to apply them wet and blend out across my eye with a brush, you can build up the moondust by adding more or less to suit the look your going for. The 8 shades are filled with bits of sparkle and 3D metallics giving superb colour from first application.

Top row from left to right
Specter - soft pink with tonal sparkle
Element - peach with pink shift and sparkle
Magnetic - purple with blue sparkle
Lightyear - vibrant green with tonal sparkle

Second row from left to right
Granite - gunmetal with multicoloured sparkle
Lithium - brown with iridescent 3D sparkle
Vega - bright blue with tonal sparkle
Galaxy - smokey blue-grey with iridescent 3D sparkle

The top swatches on my arm was applied wet with a brush and the bottom row was applied dry using my finger; you can see the shades are stronger when applied wet. Specter the lightest shade in the palette is a little hard to see on these images but its a great base shade to start your eye creations with, it has a pink/peach tone to it with a soft sparkle; it would be great over a nude lipstick too.

My favourite shades are Magnetic, Granite and Galaxy although I will use all of these shades and will experiment with different uses; glitter eye looks, festival glitter on face and eyebrows or using on top of my lipstick again like Jade on the counter did. I particularly like the 'Galaxy' shade because it was a huge surprise to see the shade has lots of different colours in it when I applied it, it literally is just like a galaxy; so pretty and workable with any outfit. I'd say 'Lightyear' is the brightest shade in the palette, its a fabulous vivid green which is going to be great for festival looks. A couple of the shades look different in the palette than what they do on the skin including Element which looks quite pink in the pan but then has a coppery/bronze look to it on the skin, Lithium is a lot browner on the skin than in the pan it has real nice look to it too.

The Moondust palette is available now for £35.00 from Urban Decay's website, in Urban Decay boutiques and counters.

  1. Aww Moondust, what a dazzlingly dreamy name! UD seem to be smashing it with their palettes lately, they're totally killin' it with their on point make-up game as are you babe! The case is so gorgeous and eye catchingly beaut, it reminds me of glittery 90s goodness with a trendy twist. Aww wow, I can truly believe that these stunning shades can be seen from space too ;) The dazzling diamond effect sounds like heaven and I love how spacey and cosmic the names of the shades all are. The swatches look totally hot girlie! Utter magic and yet another beautiful review babe! <3
