Intu Trafford Centre Student Lock In - 28th April 2015

May 02, 2015

Tuesday (29th April) night at the Trafford Centre there was a student event called the Student Lock In, just like Manchester Arndale's Student Night In, the night was filled with shops having special student discounts and offers and live DJs throughout the centre.

At last weeks Arndale Student Night I didn't buy much, I only managed to buy a hat for the boyfriend from VANS, some Unicorn earrings from ARK and 3 items of make up from Superdrug. The best part of the night was the goodie bag I got from VANS with the hat.

I'd seen the Trafford event advertised on Twitter and registered to go via the Trafford Centre's website, once registered you was given a ticket online that you had to show on arrival. After showing my ticket and student card I was given a wristband and a leaflet which had all the shops with discounts on and other offers available. Unlike the Arndale Centre they didn't have the leaflets available the week before so I didn't know what shops had discounts on until I got there. This didn't stop me planning my shops once I'd read though the leaflet so first stop was Selfridges. Cath Kidston, Ted Baker, Red 5 plus many more had discounts on from 10% to 20% however I didn't find anything to purchase.

I made my way around the Trafford stopping at the shops with the best discounts and of interest to me, Superdrug had 10% off as long as you had a Superdrug Health and Beauty Card. I did need to buy hair dye, my colour was on offer - 2 for £9.00 (£5.89 each), Schwarzkopf Got 2b new range was on an introduction promotion offer at £2.70 per item, I picked up the Mind Blowing spray. It's suppose to help your hair blow dry quicker, I've had a similar product in a different brand and it actually worked. I also brought 3 Sleek Make up items on a 3 for 2 offer with a free make up bag too. Sleek is a new make up brand for me, it was recommended by a friend so I tried a product and loved it, although Sleek is more expensive than MUA I'd sti ll say it was a close favourite. This small haul includes Del Mar Vol II Limited Edition Eyeshadow palette (£7.99), face contour kit in shade Light  (£6.49) and True Colour Matte Lipstick in shade Vamp (£4.99). Everything in total with student discount (10%) cost me £23.26 which was pretty good.

H&M have had 20% off with the UNiDAYS app for 2 weeks so that offer was still on, I spent ages in store looking for a Coachella tee I've been searching for in every store I've been too lately. They was out of stock like all the other stores and online but I did try on a few things and brought a grunge shirt dress in black and grey (£14.99), a grey jersey high neck top (£6.99), pack of hair ties in black(£1.99) and a basic white vest top (£3.99) for £22.36 with 20% discount.

Victoria's Secret also had 20% off all full price items, I got 5 pairs of panties for £20 deal plus discount so only paid £15.80. I've been finding that VS is really good quality underwear, yes the items are sometimes pricey but they last, fit well and wash nice too. So instead of buying £1.00 panties from Primark and them lasting 1 wear I've now invested in some good quality ones!

The boyfriend has asked me to pick him up some trainers and buy myself a pair, Yay free shoes!! I brought the Liberty of London Print VANS (£50.00 full price), I did try to buy them from the VANS store but they was out of stock in my size but luckily Office had some in stock. Also in Office I'd seen some Converse (£42.99 full price) that I liked for summer so after trying them on I purchased them both but least I only paid for one pair. Office had 20% discount, so the Converse only cost me £33.98!

Lastly the boyfriends trainers was from Schuh, whilst buying them I spotted a VANS backpack, I needed a new one to take to Download Festival so taking advantage of the 20% off I treated myself to that as well £24.00 isn't bad for a VANS bag. Skull pineapples - Awesome!

I left the Trafford at around 9.40pm with a Boost Smoothie who was giving students a free Boost card which once registered online gets you a free smoothie and also a free smoothie on your birthday. I was loaded up with shopping bags and felt glad to get home and chill out.

Trafford Centre is a good place to shop but sometimes is a little too expensive for me and my student finances, however doing offers like tonight made it affordable and enjoyable. All the shops are in the same place and indoors so no getting wet in the rain. With the place being quite big even though it was busy with students everywhere, the centre wasn't rammed meaning it was still pleasant to walk around.
Me and my 2 friends had a very successful shopping night and a good laugh, I hope the Trafford does more events like this in the future.
